Rental Assistance for City of Bremerton Residents

Bremerton Housing Authority and the City of Bremerton have several rental assistance programs.

You must be one (1) month behind on your rent except in the case of applying for help with a security deposit.

One program is designed to help individuals and families that need help with eviction prevention, rapid rehousing (you are homeless and moving into an apartment/house/home or need to move for a particular reason, for example domestic violence) and security deposits (when moving into a new apartment or home). You must be living in or be moving into the city limits of Bremerton proper. You must be 18 years of age or older. You may be eligible for up to three (3) months assistance. You may be eligible for up to 100% of your base rent to be paid but no more than $1500.00 maximum per month.

The second program is designed to help individuals and families that need help with rent due to their work hours being affected in relationship to COVID-19. You must live in the city limits of Bremerton and be 18 years of age or older. To be eligible for the program, you must show proof of loss or reduction of income  with a letter from your employer stating hours have been reduced due to COVID-19. This program can be up to 3 months of assistance. You may be eligible for up to 100% of assistance of your base rent to be paid but no more than $1500.00 maximum per month.

These programs are designed to assist individuals and/or families for a maximum of three (3) months for the 2022 year. 

APPLICATION PACKET

If you are a victim of domestic violence and are applying for rental assistance, please include DV FORM with your application.

Please include Release to Speak to Third Party form with your application with your landlord's information

For BOTH programs you will need to submit the following information:

Completed & signed application
6 months checking/saving balances
Proof of income (taxes and/or paycheck stubs)
Copy of current rental agreement
Signed and Dated – “Release to Speak to Third Party” form - this form should be filled out with your landlord's information
Short paragraph explaining circumstances
Letter/Notification from employer stating hours affected to due COVID-19

KITSAP EVICTION PREVENTION PROGRAM

BHA has received funding for the KEPA program for 2022. You must be at least one (1) month behind in rent to be eligible. You must provide the following documentation:

Lease agreement
Proof of income
Release to Speak to Third Party
Statement of circumstances

Please submit all documents to the SECURE DROP BOX outside the front door of the main BHA building at 600 Park Avenue in Bremerton Washington.
