A Word From Our Executive Director

Bremerton Housing Authority’s core mission is to provide affordable housing opportunities for persons with limited financial means in the communities we serve. In fulfilling our mission, we strive to keep our participants, residents, and staff safe. This is important as the world tries to control the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
We are following recommendations from public health officials and government leaders. We will be closing our main office to public access beginning Monday, March 16th. We want to maintain good customer service and meet the housing-related needs of the public and our participants, but we have suspended walk-in traffic to the 600 Park building. Staff are still available by telephone and email. Our site offices (Charter House, The Summit, The Firs, and Tamarack) will have regular office hours, but we are asking residents to call rather than drop in for face-to-face contact.
Under the “About BHA” link above, click on individual departments to reach BHA staff members. By clicking the link, you can access their phone number or send an email message.
Another significant change is the implementation of an emergency telecommuting policy for some BHA staff. We’ve categorized our staff according to our business needs and will be allowing some employees to work from home. As schools have closed, we’ve assessed that some of our staff do not have childcare options. To the greatest extent possible, we are allowing these staff members to work from home. These staff members will still be available to receive calls at their regular work phone number and email messages. There are some positions that simply don’t allow for remote working. These positions will not be allowed to telecommute.
The actions we’ve taken are all focused on health and safety. The COVID-19 virus has fundamentally changed how people in Bremerton, Kitsap County, and the entire world interact. Restrictions on public gatherings are an important measure to halt the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
These are temporary, but important, measures. We look forward to the time that we will reopen our offices and be back to business as usual.
